Kim Harris is a lifelong resident of eastern North Carolina, currently residing in Greenville.
Kim received Masters degrees in Rehabilitation Counseling and Substance Abuse and Clinical Counseling from East Carolina University. She has been in private practice for the past three years. Before starting her private practice, Kim worked as an outpatient therapist at PORT Human Services. She has also served as team leader for intensive in home therapy teams, providing in home therapy services for children at risk of out of home placement.
Kim is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), licensed by the North Carolina Board of Licensed Professional Counselors, a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, and a Certified Forensic Screener/Evaluator. She has also received extensive training in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy provided by the National Child Traumatic Stress Network, aimed at helping children and adolescents who have been sexually and/or physically abused. She attended a workshop in Washington D.C sponsored by The Center for Substance Abuse Treatment and received training in Motivational Enhancement Therapy/ Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Adolescent Cannabis Users. Kim is also a professional member of the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
Kim works with individuals of all ages and with families. Her special areas of interest include substance abuse and addiction, trauma related issues, behavioral issues with children and adolescents, play therapy, and anxiety and depressive issues. Kim also works with those experiencing problems related to adjustment disorders, anger management issues, and social anxiety. She works with a variety of other services providers, often coordinating services with community support agencies, probation officers, The Department of Social Services, as well as with school personnel and medical providers.
